૧. કમ્પ્યુટ૨નો પરિચય

૧.૧ કમ્પ્યુટર શું છે ?

કમ્પ્યુટરનો પરિચય શરૂ ક૨તા પહેલા તમારે વિશ્વમાં આજે કમ્પ્યુટર્સની અસ૨ સમજવીપડશે. કમ્પ્યુટર્સ આપણા જીવનને એક ખથવા બીજી રીતે અસર કરી રહયાં છે. કમ્પ્યુટર્સ વાપરીને આપતી સેવાઓની યાદી અનંત છે. જેમ કે... એ૨લાઈન્સ અને રિઝવેશન, ટેલિફોન અને ઈલેકટ્રીસીટી બીલ, બેકીંગ, તબીબી નિદાન, હવામાન ની આગાહી વગેરે. તમે અવલોકન કર્યુ હશે કે કમ્પ્યુટર્સના કેટલાક ઉપયોગો અથવા Workstation Computer Portable Computer કમ્પ્યુટર્સના વ૫૨ાશથી તમારૂ જીવન વધુ સરળ બન્યુ છે. તમારી એરટિકીટ મિનીટોમા મળી જાય છે અને તમારૂ ક્રેડિટ કાર્ડ ખૂબ ઝડપથી પ્રોસેસ ક૨વામા આવે છે.

આમ છતાં, કમ્પ્યુટર વિશે કેટલીક એવી બાબત છે જે તમને સહેજ અટપટી લાગશે. કદાચ એવી લાગણી કે તે તમારાથી વધુ બુધ્ધિશાળી અને માહિતીગા૨ છે તેમજ ચલાવવુ અટપટુ છે. તમને એ જાણીને નવાઈ લાગશે કે કમ્પ્યુટર તમા૨ા વગર કોઈ પણ કાર્ય કરી શકતુ નથી. કમ્પ્યુટર ને શું ક૨વાનુ છે તેની ચોકકસ સુચના તેને આપવી જરૂરી છે.

એ કહેવુ ખોટુ નથી કે કમ્પ્યુટરની ઉત્ક્રાંતિ માનવીની ગણતરી કરવાની જરૂરીયાત સાથે થઈ હતી અને આ ક્ષેત્રની ખરેખર વૃધ્ધિ ત્રીસ વર્ષના ટૂંકા ગાળામાં થઈ હતી. આ ઝડપી વૃધ્ધિની લાક્ષણિકતા વૃધ્ધિના અલગઅલગ તબકકાઓ હતી જેને કમ્પ્યુટર જનરેશન કહેવાયા. ચાલીસના દશકાના મધ્યમાં આ યંત્રોમા વાલ્વ વાપરવામા આવતા હતા તેને ફર્સ્ટ જનરેશન કમ્પ્યુટર્સ કહેવામા આવ્યાં. દસ વર્ષના સમયગાળામાં, વાલ્વની જગ્યાએ વધુ કાર્યદક્ષ અને સસ્તાં ટ્રાન્ઝિસ્ટર્સ આવ્યા. આ સેકન્ડ જનરેશન કહેવાયુ. સાઈઠના દશકાની શરૂઆતમાં એક સિલીકોન ચીપ ઉપર સોથી વધુ ટ્રાન્ઝિસ્ટર્સ સ્થાપી શકાયા ત્યારે મોટી સિધ્ધ પ્રાપ્ત થઈ. આ ઈન્ટિગ્રેટેડ ચિપ (યહ) થી થર્ડ જનરેશન કમ્પ્યુટર્સ બન્યા, કય (ખૂબ મોટા પાયાના જોડાણ) ની શરૂઆતથી એકજ ચીપ ૫૨ હજારો ટ્રાન્ઝિસ્ટર્સ બેસાડી શકાયા જે ર્ફીથ જનરેશન કમ્પ્યુટર્સ કહેવાયા. ફિફથ જનરેશન કમ્પ્યુટર્સ, કમ્પ્યુટર્સમાં બુધ્ધિમતા લાવવાની કોશિશ કરે છે જેને આર્ટિફિશિયલ ઈન્ટેલિજન્સ પણ કહેવાય છે.

૧.૨ કમ્પ્યુટરની લાક્ષણિકતાઓ :

આજના વિશ્વમાં જીવનના લગભગ તમામ પાસાઓ ૫૨ કમ્પ્યુટર્સે તેમની અસર છોડેલી છે તે હકીકતને ભાગ્યેજ નકારી શકાયઈ અહી તમે એ પ્રશ્ન પુછશો કે કમ્પ્યુટર વાપરવાથી તમને શુ ફાયદો થાય છે? કમ્પ્યુટર મૂળભૂત ત્રણ ફાયદાઓ કરે છેઃ

– ઝડપ

– ચોકસાઈ

– મહેનત

કમ્પ્યુટર્સ ખૂબ ઝડપથી કાર્ય કરે છે અને મનુષ્યો કરતાં વધારે ઝડપી છે. સરેરાશ કમ્પ્યુટ૨ને સમાન મનુષ્યો ગણવા હોય તો તે દસલાખ ગણિતશાસ્ત્રીઓ દિવસનાં ૨૪ કલાક કામ કરે તે બરાબર થાય છે. કમ્પ્યુટર્સ ભાગ્યેજ ભૂલ કરે છે. હકીકતમા તેની મોટા ભાગની ભૂલો માનવીય હોય છે. મનુષ્યોથી વિપરીત કમ્પ્યુટર્સ કંટાળતા અથવા થાકતા નથી. કમ્પ્યુટર્સને કપુન૨ાવર્તીત કામની એકને એક બાબત અસર કરતી નથી.

આમ છતાં, કમ્પ્યુટર મનુષ્યો કરતાં ઓછા ફલેકસીબલ ( બાંધછોડ ક૨ના૨ ) હોવાથી તમામ પ્રવૃતિઓ કરી શકતા નથી. તેઓને શું કરવુ તે સતત કહેતુ રહેવુ પડે છે. તેઓ વ્યાખ્યાયિત મર્યાદાથી બહાર કામ કરી શકતા નથી. જો ધાર્યા બહારની પરિસ્થિતી ઉભી થાય તો કાં તો કમ્પ્યુટર ખોટા પરિણામો આપે છે અથવા તો કાર્ય પડતુ મૂકે છે તેઓમાં વૈકલ્પિક ઉપાય શોધી કાઢવાની ક્ષમતા હોતી નથી.

• Before starting the introduction to computers you need to understand the impact of computers in the world today. Computers are affecting our lives in one way or another. The list of services rendered using computers is endless. Like... airlines and reservations, telephone and electricity bills, baking, medical diagnosis, weather forecast etc. You must have observed that some of the uses of computers or Workstation Computer Portable Computers have made your life easier. Your air ticket is received instantly and your credit card is processed very quickly.
• However, there are some things about computers that you may find a bit clunky. Perhaps the feeling that he is more intelligent and informed than you and difficult to manage. You will be surprised to know that the computer cannot do any work without you. It is necessary to give the computer specific instructions about what to do.
• It is not wrong to say that computers evolved with the need of humans to compute and the field really grew in a short span of thirty years. This rapid growth was characterized by distinct growth phases called computer generations. In the mid-forties, these machines used valves and were called first-generation computers. Over a period of ten years, valves were replaced by more efficient and cheaper transistors. This is called second generation. A major breakthrough came in the early sixties when more than a hundred transistors could be installed on a single silicon chip. This integrated chip (YEH) led to the third generation of computers, the first of which (very large-scale integration) could fit 52,000 transistors on a single chip, called the fifth generation computers. Fifth generation computers try to bring intelligence to computers, also called artificial intelligence.

1.2 Characteristics of Computer:

The fact that computers have left their impact in almost all aspects of life in today's world can hardly be denied. Computers perform three basic benefits:

– Speed
– Accuracy
– Hard work

• Computers work very fast and are faster than humans. If the average computer is to be considered the same as human beings, it is equivalent to ten million mathematicians working 24 hours a day. Computers rarely make mistakes. In fact, most of its errors are human. Unlike humans, computers do not get bored or tired. Computers don't affect one of the repetitive tasks.
• However, computers are less flexible (constraints) than humans and cannot perform all activities. They have to be constantly told what to do. They cannot operate beyond defined limits. If an unexpected situation arises, the computer either gives wrong results or stops working, they do not have the ability to find an alternative solution.
